About Icon Lacrosse New Zealand Limited

Icon Lacrosse New Zealand Limited was started in 2008 by Bill and Margot Brown in order to promote Lacrosse in New Zealand. Bill is from the East Coast of the USA and has played lacrosse for many years.

He first started playing at his local Middle School in Mountain Lakes, NJ. The Mountain Lakes team has since gone on to win State Championships under the watchful eye of Coach Tim Flynn.

After Bill finished high school he went on to play at College in New Hampshire and returned to Mountain Lakes to help Coach Flynn in the capacity of Defensive Coach. Bill then took an overseas trip to work in Brisbane, Australia and got involved in developing the first Mens team in Queensland. Bill then returned to the US to live in Boulder, Colorado and helped Boulder Lacrosse in a capacity as coach in 2000/01 when they had only 60 youth players. The BVL now has over 400 players and growing. Colorado is lucky to have 2 professional lacrosse teams, the Colorado Mammoth and Denver Outlaws. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the USA.

Margot is originally from New Zealand and has played many different sports over the years. Her main passion is Basketball where she has had some experience at coaching youth in the US.

She played lacrosse for the NSW team while living in Sydney, Australia when the program was just starting out. After taking time off to have 2 kids she is now helping Canterbury Lacrosse develop youth lacrosse in Christchurch schools. She feels that NZ kids have great potential for lacrosse because they are willing to give anything a go.

ICON Lacrosse NZ Ltd is associated with ICON Lacrosse USA which was started in 2003 when Josh Sims and Trevor Tierney recognized the rapid growth of the game in Colorado and the opportunity to help young athletes discover their true potential.
